Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse : On Monday evening, prime minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephone discussion with Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami about the collapse of Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi which occurred on November 12th and caused 41 people to become trapped inside it.
Guarantee of Central Support:
PM Modi assured CM Dhami during their meeting and conversation that India will cooperate with state governments in providing emergency tools and equipment as required for evacuation purposes of workers trapped inside factories. He stressed the necessity for collaboration among state, central agencies and state agencies; an effort will also be put forth towards safe evacuation of these workers who were stuck inside factories.

In his discussion of ongoing rescue and relief operations at Silkyara Tunnel, Prime Minister Modi noted how active his government has been in providing essential aid and tools. He highlighted the significance of maintaining employees affected during this challenging situation as well as their wellbeing being addressed during this difficult period.

State Response: Chief Minister Dhami briefed Prime Minister Modi on the status of workers trapped inside a tunnel, assuring him they are receiving regular oxygen, healthy water and food supplies. Furthermore, CM Dhami informed Prime Minister Modi of all efforts being coordinated across agencies as he also requested assistance from experts to carry out an effective rescue operation.

CM Dhami stated he is personally accountable for overseeing rescue operations, having conducted inspections at the scene himself. He assured Prime Minister Modi his medical team is present on site as well as that office of Prime Minister being active in monitoring relief operation activities.
Heavy Machinery Deployed for Rescue Mission: In order to facilitate rescue missions more swiftly and easily, heavy machinery was sent directly into Silkyara Tunnel via Brahmkhal-Yamunotri National Highway early on the first day following this tragedy. Chief Secretary Neeraj Khanna announced that rescue teams have been instructed by him to complete this rescue task as quickly as possible.
Priorities of the Central Minister:
Nitin Gadkari, Central Minister, stressed the central government’s top priority is rescuing and extracting 41 trapped workers promptly as quickly as possible. Gadkari stated, “Rescuing and extracting these employees quickly remains our number-one goal”.
